MAY 10TH (Saturday) BEACH WALK @ 8 AM with Georgia Graves. Meet @ Coast Guard Beach parking lot near the board walk. Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day with a walk on the beach to learn what the shorebirds eat there.  Contact: John Galvani @ 638- 3986.
 

MAY 13TH (Tuesday) LATE AFTERNOON LAWN CHAIR BIRDING @ AMPHITHEATER POND ON JEKYLL ISLAND @ 4 PM. To get there: from Jekyll Island Causeway you will go onto Fortson Pkwy. Take the 1st left and make an almost wide U-turn onto Riverview Drive. Take the 1st right onto Stable Road. Go approx. 1 mile (past the firehouse) & turn right onto the unmarked sandy road (look for Audubon sign). Park near the handicap signs and wait for leader. Dress for protection against bugs (long pants, spray, etc.) See nesting wood storks, roosting egrets & night herons. Contact persons: Marjorie Clark @ 635-9977 & John Galvani @ 638-3986. Bring lawn chair!!
 

May 17th (Saturday) CLEAN-UP @ GOLDEN ISLES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL @ 10 am. This should be the completion of this spring project. We are going to clean up/chip numerous cut pine limbs. Bring camera (to take pictures of spring flowers), bug spray, gloves, hat and a smile! Contact: Chris Daughtry @ 265-0515.

 

 
June Field Trips
 
       

    JUNE 8th (Sunday) END-OF-YEAR PICNIC  @ 4-6 PM @ Gascoigne Bluff Park. This is the 3 year old park located just north of the Frederica River Bridge & east of the river it self – near the new fishing pier To get there, from Brunswick, take the first left off the Torres Bridge onto Sea Island Road. Take the 1st left again onto  Hamilton Road.  (You will see a sign for “Epworth by the Sea”.) At the end of Hamilton Rd. turn left onto Arthur J. Moore Road & follow it around to the gazebo with its four picnic tables. Bring a dish to share. Drinks, plates, utensils & napkins will be provided. Also bring a chair (if you want a soft seat) and binoculars.  This is a time to network with other Audubon members and their friends.  Contact: Harriet Roberson @265-6729.
